Just a reminder

Changes in dialing for 716 area code

Starting Sunday, October 24, you may have to change how you dial phone numbers.

To complete all calls, even local ones in Western New York you’ll have to dial the appropriate area code, and then the phone number. If your saved cellphone contacts only have 7 digits, they will also have to be changed.

The 716 area code happens to be one of the 85 area codes across the country to be impacted. The deadline for this to occur is officially Sunday, but some carriers are already implementing it. And it’s not just phones. Medical monitoring devices, PBXs, fax machines, and fire or burglar alarm and security systems are among other types of equipment that, if currently programmed to complete calls to a 7-digit local number, will need to be reprogrammed to complete calls to 10-digit numbers instead.

There is an up and coming CIU happening Monday October 25th, 2021 in the morning. There is a fee and registration is required. Please refer to the flyer for information.

Mt St Marys in Lewiston is under going some construction over the next few days. Please take note in the attached document of how that will affect EMS and dropping off/picking up patients from the ER. Any questions feel free to reach out to Emily or Jim at Catholic Health.

Based on a typing error, the message sent out indicated that the new code was not 1744 when it fact it should have said “the new code is now 1744”. Please make the necessary adjustments

As of Tuesday morning the key pads for the EMS ramp as well as the EMS entrance doors have been reactivated.  The new code for the doors is not 1744.

Make note of the update:

The Maynard Fire Department and Mid-State Regional Emergency Medical Services Council are pleased to sponsor and host this ImageTrend User Educational Summit from Tuesday, October 26 thru Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Maynard Fire Department.  This program will allow the many EMS agencies using ImageTrend as their ePCR platform to learn more about NEMSIS, the ImageTrend program, how to manage the platform for their EMS agency, utilize the Report Writer program and an introduction to the CQI program to help contribute to improving quality of care.

The Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is pleased to announce that representatives from ImageTrend will be attending the ImageTrend User Educational Summit as well.  We are excited to bring such talented representatives to the inaugural summit to consult with agency leadership, program agency leaders and the data and informatics unit to be sure the services provided by the department are easily managed and the platform designed by the Department meets the needs and expectations of the EMS providers.  We encourage any EMS Agency Leaders and QA | QI Leaders to attend this educational summit and learn the best methods of using ePCR data to best benefit the EMS system, your EMS agency and the quality of care provided. 

If your agency is not in day travel to and from Utica, Mid-State EMS and Maynard Fire Department have asked me to include a listing of Utica Area Hotels if you choose to stay in the region and network with your colleagues from other EMS agencies.  We know many EMS agency leaders will want to take this opportunity to learn more about how ePCR data is developed and how it may be used to improve the quality of care. 

Users will benefit from the night sessions to practice many direct entry of many different scenarios and help improve data entry efficiency and quality of documentation.  Users can attend one or both of the night sessions to practice and ask questions about the program or the documentation standard.

This is a recent message from Catholic Health:

“Mercy Hospital of Buffalo has made the decision to not utilize the key pads for the ambulance ramp entrance or the EMS entrance to the ED to ensure the safety and security of our patients, our visitors, our staff, and the building.  Until further notice to access the ambulance ramp and the EMS entrance doors crews will be required to press the security button at both entrances and wait until security permits them access”.
