EMS Workforce Shortage in New York State: Where are the Emergency Medical Responders

On behalf of the NYS Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems, the UBMD EMS Division has been asked to communicate information concerning the recent protocol update:

1. Thank you to all who completed the protocol update by the 12/31/2019 deadline.
2. The NYS Bureau of EMS is tracking each service’s compliance with the update and is now requesting all EMS services (BLS FR, Ambulance, and ALS FR) to submit an affirmation of compliance on or before Friday, January 17, 2019.  https://apps.health.ny.gov/pubpal/builder/ProtocolCompliance
3. If an agency feels it needs an extension, they will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  There are elements necessary to apply for the extension.  The extension process is detailed in the letter which can be downloaded below.

The ECMC Trauma Program will present and discuss 3 blinded trauma cases* and management of pregnant trauma. We will discuss opportunities for improvement and positive aspects of the cases from pre-hospital through discharge. The EMS crews are encouraged to participate and offer insight so we can all learn from each other. Join us in person!
