Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator

The NYSBEMS is encouraging all EMS agencies to identify a Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) for their service.  The purpose is to enhance provider comfort and confidence when caring for pediatric patients.

What is a PECC?

A PECC is an individual or individuals who are responsible for coordinating pediatric-specific activities for your agency. Whoever your agency designates as the PECC(s) will be responsible for the following:
1. Being a resource for education on pediatric medications, equipment, and supplies.
2. Promoting and sharing pediatric continuing-education opportunities.
3. Encouraging pediatric simulations/hands on pediatric skills assessments.
4. Encouraging that fellow providers follow pediatric clinical-practice guidelines.
