Erie County EMS is offering an NAEMT Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) Course on 4/25/26 & 4/26/26 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) is the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. In the 4th Edition of AMLS, students learn to recognize and manage common medical crises through realistic case based scenarios that challenge students to apply their knowledge to highly critical patients. The course emphasizes the use of scene size-up, first impression, history, detailed physical assessment, and interactive group discussion on differential diagnosis and potential treatment strategies to systematically rule out and consider possibilities and probabilities in treating patients’ medical crises.
AMLS is a 16-hour course appropriate for EMS practitioners, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse anesthetists, and physicians.
The course fee is $75.00. Students must complete both days to receive certification.
Continuing Education Credits:
AMLS offers 16 CME credits distributed as follows: Preparatory (1), Airway (2), Pharmacology/ Medication Administration/Emergency Medications (1), Immunology (1), Toxicology (1), Endocrine (1), Neurology (1), Abdominal/Renal/Gastrointestinal/Hematology (1), Respiratory (2), Psychiatric (2), Cardiology (2), and EMS Operations (1).

Greetings,
Please see the msg below from Emily James regarding the upcoming changes with Catholic Health Facilities ED Access for EMS
Good afternoon –
As you are aware, the Catholic Health System has put in place some new security features in the emergency departments throughout our system, to include stronger access requirements for the EMS entrances. Key fobs have been distributed to the EMS agencies who regularly transport to our facilities for their providers to gain entrance to the ED via the EMS doors. For agencies who are not regularly transporting to Catholic Health emergency departments, there will be a bell that can be pressed to alert security to open the EMS doors, so the crew is able to gain entrance. The current PIN code system to enter via the EMS doors will no longer be accessible as of Monday, April 6, 2026, at 12:00am. Please distribute this information to your providers.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, thank you.

Greetings,
Please see the correspondence below from the Division of State EMS, link below is for the Request for Nominees document!
The Division of State EMS is pleased to begin accepting nominations for the second Mental Health Resiliency Officer Fellowship Program. This program is designed to equip EMS clinicians with the tools to develop and support mental health and well-being in their agencies. Taking place over the course of one-year, beginning with an introductory “kick-off” session in June 2026, the aim is to have at least one mental health champion from each region chosen to participate in the fellowship program. These fellows will receive foundational mental health competencies, and attend monthly virtual or in-person meetings, to gain the knowledge necessary to become a resiliency officer and develop or enhance peer support programs in their agencies.
Through training, and the development of a network of like-minded EMS professionals, this fellowship empowers participants to create lasting change.
Nominations will close on April 20th, 2026 so please share the attached request for nominations widely within your networks.
Thank you for your time and commitment to the mental health and well-being of EMS clinicians, leaders and agencies throughout New York State.
Sincerely,
Stephen Brucato
