Updated NYS DOH BEMSTS Updated Policies

Greetings,

There are two updated policies that have been placed on the Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems website.  The first is an update to policy statement 23-08 which has been now  23-08B

This particular policy was introduced a few months back and covered Pilot Educational Programs.  The original policy introduced four pilot programs.  The updated policy statement adds a fifth pilot program for Recruitment and Retention.  Agencies leaders please review this policy as this may be an option for prospective members who may have taken an EMT class through self funding.  Details can be found using the link below:

The second policy update is regarding policy statement 23-09 which is now updated to policy statement 23-09.b.  The big news on this policy statement update is the increase in course reimbursements for the EMT, AEMT original course along with an increase in the PSE Rates.  This notice can be found at this link:

We need YOUR help getting direct information from EMS providers in the field about some previously proposed legislative updates to Article 30 that were not enacted.

Understanding the Part S Feedback Survey (little longer explanation):

As part of the 2023-2024 budget (current budget period), a section was included called Part S – Modernization of EMS.

Several sections of Part S were enacted into legislation in April of 2023 as part of the Modernization of EMS proposal.  Some proposed sections of Part S were not included in the legislative updates.

This survey is to gain feedback from the EMS community on sections of Part S that were not included.

Please take a few minutes to respond to this survey and provide your feedback so your insights and recommendations and be heard and shared.

Parking resealing and striping schedule updates: 

·     Friday, September 8- parking lot D, will be closed, all other lots will re-open

·     Sunday, September 10- MacArthur Drive (main drive) and front loop will be closed from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. All patients, visitors and staff parking on hospital property must use the Basset Road entrance and rear lots during this time. At St. Greg’s, our regular parking areas across from the Emergency Department and school lot, will be available.

Please keep in mind that during this time ambulance drivers will be using the Bassett Road entrance as well. 

**All patient discharges will need to use the North entrance.**
