Erie County Hazard Mitigation Plan

By Uncategorized

To Erie County’s Stakeholder Community:

Hello! As you know, Erie County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). The HMP will analyze the hazards faced by the county and its municipalities, residents, and businesses, and will identify a strategy for minimizing the vulnerability to these hazards. You may remember being invited to the Planning Partnership Kickoff webinars that were held on November 18 and 19, 2020. You can find out more about the HMP and the planning process here: https://www.eriecountynyhmp.com/.

I would like to invite you to provide more input into the planning process. We have developed a short survey about the county and the risks it faces. We would greatly appreciate it if you would complete the survey and otherwise participate in this important endeavor. The survey can be found here:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ErieCountyStakeholder

We would appreciate it if you would complete the survey by January 29, 2021.

Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you very much!

Have a great day!

COVID-19 Vaccine Second Dose Information

By Uncategorized

Dear EMS Community,

The UBMD Emergency Medicine EMS Division has been fielding numerous inquiries as to how providers are scheduled to receive their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.

The method by which providers are scheduled for the second dose is site dependent.  Some sites are scheduling at the time of the initial vaccine administration while other sites are reaching out to the individuals closer to the time when the second dose should be administered.  Unfortunately, the UBMD EMS Division is not able to assist with this process other than information sharing.

During last night’s briefing with the Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems, Director Ryan Greenberg mentioned the agency contact only (not individual providers) should email him if providers do not have scheduled appointments 3-4 days prior to when they should be receiving the second dose. For reference, those who received the Pfizer vaccine should receive the second dose 21 days after the first dose; those who received Moderna would be 28 days after the first dose.

Should you feel that you need to contact Director Greenberg and do not have his contact information, please reach out to the UBMD EMS Division (ubmdems@buffalo.edu) and we can provide the director’s email.

We hope this communication helps clarify some of the confusion.

Important! EMS Contacts and Communications

By Uncategorized

On behalf of the entire team of EMS physicians and administrative staff at the UBMD Emergency Medicine EMS Division, we would like to wish everyone a happy New Year!

We are sending a quick reminder for all EMS officers and key contacts to review and update their agency information in the UBMD EMS Portal.  As the primary interface for EMS officials and medical directors, it is very important to ensure the Portal represents accurate contact information.  Particularly, as the COVID vaccine is rolled out, there is sensitive information which we have been directed to disseminate ONLY to EMS contacts.  Therefore, we export contact information from the Portal and do not share via this platform.

Also, we ask EMS leaders to encourage ALL of their providers to register with this communication forum.  Doing so will help ensure timely delivery of training and operational information.  Providers self-register on our website’s home page at: www.ubmdems.com

Lastly, the primary email account for the UBMD EMS Division is ubmdems@buffalo.edu .  Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need to contact anyone from our office.

Let’s continue to be EMS Strong and work for a better 2021!
