NYS Medicaid Reimbursement for COVID-19 Vaccine Administration

By Uncategorized

Attention: All EMS Agencies Providers

The New York State Medicaid program will reimburse qualified Medicaid enrolled ambulance providers for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine during the current Public Health Emergency.

Ambulance providers will receive a letter advising they have been assigned category of service (COS) 0282. This category of service has been assigned to ambulance providers for the purpose of billing for the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Ambulance providers should only bill Medicaid Fee-for-Service (FFS) for COVID-19 vaccine administration provided to Medicaid members enrolled in Medicaid FFS or Medicaid members who are not Medicare eligible and enrolled in a Managed Long-Term Care plan.

For members enrolled in a Managed Long-Term Care plan, Mainstream Medicaid Managed Care, Health and Recovery Plans or HIV Special Needs Plans, providers should check with the individual’s plan for implementation details, reimbursement fees and billing instructions.

Please see the complete policy guidance document at:
https://health.ny.gov/health_care/medicaid/covid19/guidance/billing_guidance.htm

Questions:

Medicaid FFS coverage and policy questions should be directed to the Office of Health Insurance Programs, Division of Program Development and Management, at (518) 473-2160 or FFSMedicaidPolicy@health.ny.gov.
