2022.01 Paper PCR Portal | Online Form Update

By Uncategorized

Greetings Everyone,

A message from the Bureau Data Team:

An update has been made to the Paper PCR Portal platform on the New York State Elite Site to improve ease of entry for providers and improve data collection.  The field Incident Zip Code has been added to the form with a corresponding Incident Address Location Lookup button.  Providers will now only need to enter the zip code of the scene address and then click the lookup button and the Incident County and Incident State fields will be filled in automatically.

This change is being implemented to not only make data entry easier for providers, but to also make these charts available in Biospatial, a platform the Department of Health utilizes for data monitoring and performance measures.  The Biospatial platform will become available to Regional Program Agencies and EMS Agency leadership to utilize in the near future.

Agencies encountering any issues with this update should reach out to the Data and Informatics team at emsdata@health.ny.gov

Reminder:  submission of patient care reporting through the Paper PCR Portal does not qualify an EMS agency to participate in the Continuing Medical Education Recertification Program.

Reminder:  all patient care reports are required to be submitted to the Department no later than four (4) hours after the completion of the incident no less than 90% of the time.

Western Region HEPC Survey

By Uncategorized

Greetings Everyone,

The Western HEPC is conducting a survey that will be available until the end of the month (March 31st, 2022). I am aware that there is still the EMSC survey out there that I am sure some of you may still need to complete. While it is true that these surveys are voluntary, they do allow your voice to be heard. Attached is the information on this survey and the PDF showing the questions before hand is also attached. I encourage ALL EMS leadership to complete the survey. For those of you that are not leadership in your agency, please encourage the same from your leadership please. This is valuable information, even if you do not see any impact from the results immediately. Thanks –

Good Morning,

The link below is to the Western Region Health Emergency Preparedness Coalition (HEPC) Survey. This survey is designed to collect gaps we have in the region.

The survey is designed to be anonymous but we are looking for what sector you are in and if you are based in Western New York or the Finger Lakes or both.

We have attached a PDF of the survey for those that prefer to review the survey before completing it. Some of the survey features are lost on paper.

We will be closing this survey on March 31. Please let your voice be heard. This will be our guide for the next couple of years. The data will be shared with our partners at DHSES to coordinate training, meetings, speakers, and exercises. The results will be shared at our next meeting on June 7, 2022.

Feel free to share with link with anyone whose voice should be heard.

Portal Update – EMT Certification Expiration dates

By Uncategorized

Greetings Everyone,

I wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that our portal developers this morning updated the recent changes to the EMT certification expiration dates and added the year as stated in BEMS policy 22-05. Some of you have indicated that this was a task that you had taken the initiative on and updated the providers with in your agency. When the developers applied the extension they were able to take into consideration those that had made recent changes to their expiration dates so we are hoping that no one received 2 extra years. We do ask that agency leaders to just go into the portal and verify the changes to ensure that things transitioned smoothly. Again if you have any questions please feel free to call myself or Karen

PFCCS is a 2-day in-person course offered by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), developed to prepare non-intensivists to manage the care of critically ill pediatric patients until transfer or appropriate critical care consultation can be arranged. The 2-day course includes a series of presentations and skill stations from PICU/ED faculty/staff designed to provide knowledge, guidance for decision making, and limited practice in some clinical procedures and scenarios. Please see attached flyer for additional information.

The target audience include nursing staff including charge RNs, APNs, EMS/ED personnel, residents/fellows PGY-2 and above, chief residents, hospitalists, respiratory therapists and others who take care of pediatric patients. Both UB/non-UB personnel are welcome to register.

The participants obtain pediatric CME (15.5 AMA Category-1) for the 2-day attendance, as well as completion certificate for qualified candidates after post-test. 3rd edition of PFCCS textbook from SCCM with latest guidelines is available upon registration for the course. Breakfast, lunch, snacks for the 2-day duration is included in the course fee. This session is limited to 20 participants, first come first served basis.
